Very sad to learn of the passing of Harold Budd. He was brilliant and visionary. RIP.
For a while, back in 1984, I was kind of obsessed with “The Pearl” by Budd & Eno. It’d be hard to overstate how much of a lasting impact that album made on me.

resolved: Simon Stålenhag should direct future iamamiwhoami videos, should there be any.
(this video is apparently Simon Stålenhag’s directorial debut)

the Sweden National Day ionnalee/iamamiwhomi performance was the most satisfying iamamiwhoami experience I’ve ever had
I CAN’T STOP LISTENING TO THIS SONG
I haven’t connected like this with a song for a long, long time
This track is completely rocking my world right now. Bring on that melodramatic, theatrical, cinematic music any day, and I’m yours forever!
‘My photographs are not about anorexia
They are about human suffering.’
Lene Marie FossenLene Marie Fossen wanted to stop time 23 years ago. She was only 10 years old when she decided to stop eating and struggled with anorexia the rest of her life. She chose to be open about her disease and is best known for her beautiful and revealing self-portraits. Her soulful portraits of victims of the refugee crisis on the island of Chios in Greece also bear witness of a unique photographer and artist.
Lene Marie’s last wish was that her work should be shared with as many people as possible.

Lene’s work and ambition inspired Susanne Sundfør to collaborate with her when Lene asked, composing the original soundtrack to the film ‘Self Portrait’. It became the last piece of art she created as she passed just after the finalisation of the movie.
‘Self Portrait’ is a Norwegian feature length documentary that tells the story of Lene Marie Fossen, directed by Margreth Olin, Katja Høgset and Espen Wallin, and released in Norway on 17 th January 2020 with international distribution to follow.
Susanne Sundfør’s original soundtrack to ‘Self Portrait’ will be released on 10 th January 2020 through Bella Union.
‘When The Lord’ is the lead track from the ‘Self Portrait’ score, released today, and is the only vocal track from the record.
Susanne Sundfør’s music for this film is some of her best work, imo.

this song popped up in my Spotify “release radar” playlist yesterday, and on the very first listen it had me weeping uncontrollably in my car in a Kinko’s parking lot. I don’t know about serendipity as a thing, and I certainly don’t know anything about Destroyer, but it’s amazing that this song with these lyrics came out now. I have my reasons why it touched me so deeply – probably the biggest thing that has ever happened to me happened last Tuesday – I’m still reeling, and so I’ve unconsciously imbued the lyrics with meanings and significance likely way beyond their original intent. they somehow simultaneously reflect the diametrically opposed points of view of me and of someone else. but even without my personal drama being involved, it’s a beautiful, extremely well-written song.
I was lying, the laziest river
A vulture predisposed to eating off floors
No wait, I take that back
I was more like an ocean
Stuck inside hospital corridors
My condition in general
Despite what they say, improves
So, I could care less, on a night like this
I’m on the lookout for anything that moves
Crimson Tide
I know when to hold ‘em
And I know when to leave
I know where to go
I know how to breathe
I know how you blow
Bubbles
You can look at the world
'Til you don’t know what you’ve done
You can follow a salary to the bottom of the ocean
Is that yours?
Throw it in the pond
I thought I was smart
I’m not
I thought I was sick and dying
Chicken-shit singers
Paying their dues
A circus mongrel sniffing for clues
You watch the blonde make mincemeat of the brunette
An actress pays her debt
To Satan again and again
I said I don’t know
Just 'cause
A child coo’s sweet nothings to a box of us
He’s not a child, he’s twenty-five
He’s never felt so alive
Crimson tide
One more dead rich runaway
Who gives a shit
Must be nice, must be the rain
When lightning strikes twice
The funeral goes completely insane
The funeral’s insane
The funeral’s insane
The funeral’s insane
Vicious stampede
A vile promenade
But in china teacups
Two fools find love
Back at Hotel Parallel
The stereo I can feel it
She said get into the zone
The zone is brimstone and wire
You open your mouth
To watch you teeth shudder
At the mirror
At the clutter
Crimson tide
